[Explorer] Task 2.1

Post by Ismail Shaheen » Fri Jan 31, 2020 10:02 am

So, can we take a screenshot for the entire map area for autonomous mapping? This is a follow up question from the Facebook live video.

The map shown to the station judge should NOT be a video image / screen shot taken from above the coral reef. The map should not be a real image taken from video.

The map should be a separate creation. For example, a team's blank map could be a white background with 27 squares set up 9 x 3.

A map being an actual image of the reef does not meet the requirements of the mission.

Good luck.

Dear Matthew,

I am sorry I should have clarified my question. Can we take a screenshot for the entire map area and use it to generate the "separate creation" and not have it generated on the fly as we pass above the map area. Would that still be considered autonomous.

Yes. That is acceptable. You could use a screenshot of the entire reef, and have your program determine where the items are and input those items to a separate map that is shown to the station judge.

Good luck.
