[EXPLORER] Wood in control station construction

Post by theokell » Mon Jan 27, 2020 1:48 pm

We are considering constructing the inner structure of our ROV control station out of wood. I am confident that there is no risk of fire, since the entire station runs on 5V DC with low current draw, and the electronics are very simple. Some of our team members have raised concerns that, in the past, MATE judges objected to the use of wood as a material in control stations. Would this be seen as an inherent concern during safety inspection?

Thank you,

Hi Theo:

I have forwarded this to the head safety inspectors for comment.

I will get back to you as soon as I can with an answer.

Hi Slugbotics:

Our head safety inspector had no issues with a control station made of wood.

Good luck.
