Power wire to the ROV

Post by cwnetdev » Sat Feb 29, 2020 9:39 pm

Are there any recommended brands or sources for power wires running from topside down to the ROV for Navigator class machines? We are looking at doing 25-foot 10awg stranded wires from topside battery down thru penetrators into electronics housing enclosure...wiring to terminal blocks on the ROV for the thrusters, microcontrollers, and lights to share power.

Do we need to have the wires routed inside a special waterproof jacket, or are marine wires like this:

You recommendations, advice, and feedback are greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

You do not need to have all your wires inside a special waterproof jacket - not sure there is such a thing as a waterproof jacket. Having all your wires encased in a sheath makes the tether easier to handle and control, but it is not a requirement. Having each of the individual wires waterproofed is a must, but wires running through a penetrator should handle that.

MATE does not have and recommended brands our sources for wire.
The link provided is acceptable wire for an ROV tether.

Good luck.
