Re: [EXPLORER] Task 3.4- Create Photo Mosaic of Subway Car

Please note that during the live Competition Prop Q&A and in previous replies to the same question you stated that it's okay if we take a screenshot and define a region of interest in the image. It seems really unfair to change these rules right before the Regional Competitions as they are less than...

[EXPLORER] Task 2.2

After doing tasks 2.3 and 2.4 and receiving their points can we remove any objects (coral fragments-crown thorn of sea stars) lying behind the coral colony as it might get detected by the software as a part of the coral colony before attempting to do task 2.2? If not can you ensure that no objects a...

[EXPLORER] Task 2.2 The health of the Coral Colony

Will using sliders for the calibration of the Live Feed from the ROV cameras before comparing the new coral colony to the old one to determine its health be considered autonomous? Please note that after calibration the software will output the areas of change autonomously without hitting any buttons.

[EXPLORER] Task 3 photomosaic

Are we allowed to select a region of interest when capturing the photos of the photomosaic? This means that we are going to select the region of interest after capturing a photo of each side but then the photomosaic is generated autonomously by the software.

Presentation

We have an enquiry about the challenge’s presentation, is there going to be a projector available at the presentation time so that we can show data visualizations and recorded demos?

Thanks in advance!

Microsoft Azure Challenge Report

We have multiple questions regarding the Microsoft Azure Challenge's Report.

1- Is there going to be a scoresheet for the Microsoft Azure Challenge Report?

2- What is the deadline for submitting the challenge’s report?

3- How many pages should the report consist of?

[EXPLORER] Task 1 - Calibrating the line following software

Can we calibrate our software underwater on the map before starting our trial just to make sure that it'll detect lines/crack correctly? if not, Is there going to be an on-surface map for us to calibrate our software on?

If so, will this process be done during the 5 mins setup or before?

[EXPLORER] Power and camera system of the micro-ROV

1- Can we use an onboard super-capacitor to power our micro ROV while using an optical fiber connector for sending communication signals? If yes, does it have to have a pressure release valve like the onboard batteries? 2- Can we send the camera signals through copper wires directly to the surface w...

Re: [EXPLORER] Micro-ROV Powering and camera system connection

So can we connect the micro-ROV's cameras directly to the surface and also power the micro-ROV from the surface, where both the cameras and the power cables of the micro-ROV will be passing through the ROV's tether management system? Note that this would not violate the rules that the only connectio...
