[RANGER] Automated Species Identification - Replay

Post by jensteakley » Thu May 16, 2019 10:03 am

Our team has enhanced our species identification program. Instead of just taking one picture, It can record a short series of frames from the camera while we are over the paper. We then play that back to find a good picture to perform the shape/species identification. I wanted to insure we are within the rules for a Ranger team. Here is the process:

1) Remove the stone and pilot over the sheet.
2) Press a key on the keyboard to start recording a series of frames and enter playback mode.
3) Review the frames and find the best picture pressing <- and-> keys.
4) When we find the best picture, we press a key to perform the shape recognition and the results are shown on the screen.

Is this method acceptable?

We have an enhanced version that performs the shape recognition during the review.

Is the enhanced method acceptable?

Thanks

Yes. That method is acceptable. Be sure to talk with your station judges to let them know exactly what you are doing. Let the judges know you are cycling through frames to fine the best, and that when you find the best frame, you are then hitting a button to do the image recognition analysis.

Good luck.

Can we run the image recognition while doing the replay and pick the best frame knowing what the image recognition identified?
