Is the void weighed down

Post by Ella5980 » Fri Apr 12, 2019 9:33 am

My team has built the model of the void that grout will need to be placed in. During our tests we noticed that it falls over very easily underwater. Even our ROV's thrusters have the capacity of knocking it over. Our question is will the void be weighted in the competition? There is no notes of weight for the void model in the prop building instructions.

Thank you!

Yes. The void to be filled with grout will be weighted down. In most cases, flotation and weights are not specified in the prop building instructions. But weight will be added to keep things from floating, easily tipping over, etc. Flotation will be added to make sure the items meet the weight given in the manual.

Note that if your ROV hits any mission prop with enough force, they might knock it over even with weights. In the competition, if you run over a mission prop with enough force to knock it over, you may not be able to complete that task.

Good luck.
