Question:
Can a team member pull the basket to the pool side or must the ROV bring the basket back? For scout, navigator and Ranger teams.

I think I found the answer to this question if it still holds true for this competition

All teams from all classes may use a collection basket to gather multiple items.

EXPLORER and RANGER companies CANNOT pull the lift basket up by hand / manually.
NAVIGATOR and SCOUT companies CAN pull the lift basket up by hand / manually.

For EXPLORER and RANGER: You can use a lift bag (incorporated into the ROV or collection basket), the ROV can collect it, or other device can be used to lift the collection basket, but it cannot be pulled by hand (no one on the surface can use their muscles to pull up the collection basket).

Note: Since the previous ruling in 2017, we have had two years of mission tasks that include lifting a heavy object. For these tasks, lifting by hand was not allowed. So now, collection baskets must be lifted by other means (for RANGER and EXPLORER).

Good luck.

I am inquiring about additional collection basket rules. I understand that Ranger teams cannot pull up the basket by hand as specified in this posts:

I still have additional questions.

Can a team lower the basket into the water by hand (connected by a rope for example) in a controlled way? This would be beneficial to a team as they could send props to the pool bottom in a favorable position for ROV recovery. An example would be lowering a cup containing fry or grout to bottom of the pool so the ROV could then grab it and transport it to its zone.

Lastly will the lift basket be included in the size and weight measurement of the main ROV?

RANGER and EXPLORER teams would also be required to carry the lift basket down with their vehicle.

NAVIGATOR and SCOUT teams could lower a collection basket by hand (but only right at the side of the pool).

Any collection basket would need to be included in the size and weight measurements.

Good luck.
