Using a Computer in the Control Box

Post by madelinek » Sat Jan 12, 2019 2:53 pm

Hello!

We were wondering if it would be okay to use a laptop as part of our main control box. We would still have a voltage meter, and tether strain relief.

All of the power would be separate from the computer and there would be no power coming from the laptop.

Thanks,

Yes. You may use a laptop computer as part of (or your entire) control system.

A note: Cameras are required to be powered from the MATE supply, so would need to get their power from something other than the computer (USB cameras usually are powered from the computer, so are genearlly not allowed unless modified).

Good luck.
