Ranger: 3 display limit and image rec.

We have added a small display to our control box, so we now have three navigation displays (which is the limit). We also use a separate laptop to do image capture using one of the video feeds for benthic identification. Since we are not using the laptop to navigate - only to do the image recognition...

[Ranger] Pebbles question

Hi,

In our grout delivery system we cannot accommodate the largest Mexican pebbles. That leads to our question: can we bring our own Mexican pebbles that we have pre-filtered, or do we need to use the ones provided by Mate on competition day?

Ranger: microROV fuse

We are confused by this line in the Mate manual: ELEC-NRD-003: If powered from the surface through the ROV, the micro-ROV must have a 7.5 amp (or smaller) fuse at the point of connection to the ROV. Our microROV is driven by a 12V PWM signal generated in our ROV. So our microROV is NOT directly powe...

[Ranger]fiber optic cable with unused conductors

If the fiber optic cable also contains some copper conductors, but they are not connected electrically between the ROV and microROV can we still get the fiber optic points? This assumes we can prove to the judges that the copper conductors are not connected.

thanks

Re: Definition of "micro ROV attached to Primary ROV"

I'm confused Matt: Your last response makes it sound like the fiber optic points are only an Explorer thing. But the ranger uROV briefing says that Ranger also gets points for a fiber connection. Is that a mistake?

RANGER: ROV to uROV tether management

In this thread: http://forums.marinetech2.org/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1038 it was stated that the surface team cannot manipulate the uROV by pulling on its tether (assuming the micro ROV has a separate tether to the surface). However, in the case where the uROV tether is being controlled by the main RO...

Ranger bonus point question

If the three tasks are finished before the 15 minutes are up, but one or both of the distance measurements are not within the 10 cm accuracy target, are the time bonus points still awarded?

Re: Ranger Pressure Release for OBS Release Mechanism

I'm confused because that sounds a lot more complicated than what the manual gives as acceptable pressure release systems for onboard batteries. From the manual: Examples of acceptable methods for housing batteries include: • A PVC pipe with wires penetrating one end and the opposite end plugged wit...

Ranger - OBS connector holder

Hi. Can you provide more detail on the OBS connector holder in the OBS? For example could it just be a basket?
